Opernhaus Zürich has canceled its performances all the way through April 30, 2020.

The company made the announcement via its official website with the following statement: “With immediate effect, the Zurich Opera House has to cancel all performances and events by April 30, 2020, due to the order imposed by the Federal Council as part of the measures to contain the Corona virus infection. The building thus follows the guidelines of the Federal Council, which have just been published in a press conference.”

Among the productions affected by the change are “Arabella,” “Otello,” “La Bohème,” “Die Csárdásfürstin,” “Coraline,” “Konrad oder Das Kind aus der Konservenbüchse,” and “Aida.” The upcoming production of “Il Mondo della Luna” was scheduled to open on April 30, 2020, though it is likely to also see cancelations.

The Opernhaus Zürich is the latest company to close its doors in light of taking precautions to avoid the further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
