By David Salazar

Opera Rara is set to present its second “Donizetti and Friends” recital on May 23, 2024.

The showcase, which will take place at Wigmore Hall, will feature Artist Ambassador Ermonela Jaho. She is joined by Artistic Director Carlo Rizzi. They will perform numerous songs by Donizetti, Bellini, Verdi, Gounod, and Viardot.

Also performing at the concert is violinist Marco Rizzi as he performs two works by Donizetti for piano and violin.

The event will be live streamed on Opera Rara’s YouTube channel and will then be available for 30 days thereafter. It will also be streamed on Facebook, where audiences can check it out for another 48 hours.

Jaho was appointed Artist Ambassador in 2022 alongside Michael Spyres. She has worked with Opera Rara on recordings for “Zazà,” “Le Willis,” and “Anima Rara,” the last of which won Best Vocal Recording at the 2021 International Classical Music Awards. Rizzi and Jaho will record another two albums for release in 2025.
