Opera Southwest has announced that it is adding a performance for its run of “Llantos 1492.”

The company announced on social media, noting that an extra showcase would take place on Feb. 19, 2025.

Adam del Monte’s new opera blends flamenco with history, set against the backdrop of the Spanish Inquisition and the fall of Granada. The story follows Jewish lawyer Youssef Biboldo as he defies the Inquisition, bringing greater persecution upon himself, his family, and a group of Roma people.

Brian James Myer stars alongside Ricardo Ceballos, Oriana Fallas, Barbara Martinez, José Cortes, Dane Suarez, Javier Ortiz, and Vicente Griego. Anthony Barrese conducts and Octavio Cardenas directs the opera.

The run opens on Feb. 16 and ends on the 23rd.
