Cecilia Violetta López to Headline Opera Southwest’s ‘Madama Butterfly’

Opera Southwest is set to present “Madama Butterfly” starting on Oct. 27, 2024.

The production will run for a total of four performances through Nov. 3 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center-Journal Theatre.

Headlining the production will be Cecilia Violetta López as Cio Cio San. She is joined by tenor Hak Soo Kim as Pinkerton and Laurel Semerdjian as Suzuki. Other cast members include Matthew Hanscom, John Tiranno, Javier Ortiz, Ivan Conrad, and Chandry Abreu.

Anthony Barese conducts a production directed by Susan Stone Li with Carey Wong as Scenic Designer, Kaylee Silcocks as Costumer, Jacqueline Chavez on Wigs & Makeup, Daniel Chapman on Lighting, and Chorus Master Aaron Howe.

This season Opera Southwest will also present the world premiere of “Llantos 1492” and “Doña Clementina.”
