Opera Santa Barbara has announced the appointment of Judy Dean, MD, to its Board of Directors.

Dr. Dean is a retired radiologist with nearly three decades of medical practice in the community. She retired in 2018 and continues to be active in local arts and cultural organizations.

“For me opera is timeless stories set to unforgettable music,” said Dean, per an official press release. “Opera Santa Barbara is one of the performing arts jewels of this community, and I’m honored to be a part of it. I love their slogan, ‘Life set to music.’ The performances showcase some of the most beautiful music ever written and are never lacking in passion and drama.”

Next up for the company is a production of “Caesar & Cleopatra” on Feb. 27 and March 1, 2026.
