Opera Memphis Unveils 2023-24 Season

Opera Memphis has announced its 2023-24 season.

The company opens with “30 Days of Opera.”

Performance Dates: September 2023

Next up will be “The Duncan Williams Asset Management Concert Series” which will take place at Opera Memphis HQ and showcases music by such composers as Gershwin, Schubert, and Britten, among others.

Performance Dates: Oct. 7, Nov. 11, 2023, Jan. 27 & April 13, 2024

Next up is “Carmina Burana” in collaboration with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra at the Cannon Center for Performing Arts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 28, 2023

There will be a “Christmas Fiesta” in collaboration with Cazateatro and the Dixon Gallery and Gardens.”

Performance Dates: Dec. 9, 2023

Opera Memphis joins forces with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and the National Civil Rights Museum for the world premiere of “Harriet Tubman Oratorio” by composer Earnestine Rodgers Robinson.

Performance Dates: Feb. 11, 2024

Next up is “The Crazy Journey of Mozart’s Magic Flute,” a 45-minute adaptation of Mozart’s famed work. The showcase is presented in collaboration with The Memphis Symphony Orchestra and Orpheum Theatre Group.

Performance Dates: Feb. 22, 2024

The company will then present “La Calisto“” at the Playhouse on the Square.

Performance Dates: March 22 & 23, 2024

The season draws to an end with “La Bohème” at the Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center at the University of Memphis. The opera stars Chauncey Packer, Marquita Richardson, Reginald Smith, Jr., Kayla Oderah, and among others. Jeri Lynne Johnson conducts. Dennis Whitehead Darling and Ned Canty co-stage direct.

Performance Dates: May 17 & 18, 2024
