Opera Buffs to Present Children’s Opera ‘The Enchanted Tail’

By David Salazar

Opera Buffs is set to broadcast “The Enchanted Tail” on Oct. 2, 7, and 16, 2020 as part of its “Stay In, Sing Out” series.

The children’s opera was created by tenor Bernardo Bermudez and Victoria Robertson through their company Opera4Kids.

“What sets ‘The Enchanted Tail’ apart from other children’s programming is threefold,” Bermudez noted in a press release. “We wrote a unique story, composed transitional music to give the show a sense of Disney-like movement, and hired established singers who truly love singing for kids. It’s a pastiche opera, weaving arias, duets, and music from opera, operetta, and classical music into a cohesive, kid-friendly, engaging story with lovable characters. We try to give children the highest level of artistry possible.”

The opera features Bermudez as the Woodsman who turns into a silent Fox and Robertson as the Princess and Witch. The opera has already been broadcast three times on San Diego’s educational channel ITV 16; over 5,000 children have already seen the production.
