Famed Italian tenor Angelo Mori has died at the age of 86.

Mori studied at the Scuola di Teatro La Fenice. He made his operatic debut in 1962 in the role of Duca di Mantua in Verdi’s “Rigoletto.”

His vast repertory included roles of Don José in Bizet’s “Carmen,” Don Alvaro in Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino,” Radames in “Aida,” Pollione in Bellini’s “Norma,” Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini’s “Tosca,” the title role in “Andrea Chénier,” Pinkerton in “Madama Butterfly,” and Turiddu in Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana,” among others.

Throughout his career, the tenor appeared at the Teatro alla Scala, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Deutsche Oper am Rhein, among others.

Mori’s recording include Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino for Fratelli Fabbri and Donizetti’s “Marino Faliero” for OPR.
