North/South Consonance, Inc. to Present Mexican Composers in ‘Cinco de Mayo’ Concert

On May 4, 2023, North/South Consonance, Inc. will celebrate “Cinco de Mayo” with a concert of works by Mexican composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Held at Marc Scorca Hall at the National Opera Center in New York City, the program will feature Mexican composers Carlos Chavez and Manuel M. Ponce, as well as Brian Banks, Manuel Enriquez, and Eduardo Mata; the concert will be concluded with Max Lifchitz’s “Rosa Divina,” a song cycle based on a sonnet by Baroque luminary Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz.

Soprano Celia Castro and flutist Lisa Hansen will be joined by pianist Max Lifchitz.

The concert will be free to attend, and will be streamed live via the National Opera Center’s YouTube channel.
