New York City Opera to Perform Milestones of American Opera

The New York City Opera is set to present Milestones of American Opera on August 15, 2022, at the Wollman Rink in Central Park.

The performance will feature excerpts from American operatic works by Carlisle Floyd, Ricky Ian Gordon, Douglas Moore, Tobias Picker, Robert Ward, and Iain Bell from such operas as “The Ballad of Baby Doe,” “Susannah,” “Emmeline,” “Stonewall,” “The Garden of the Finzi-Continis,” “Sweeney Todd,” and “Trouble in Tahiti.”

Soloists will include Tatev Baroyan, Lisa Chavez, Mark Delavan, Kristin Sampson, and Victor Starsky. Michael Capasso, the company’s General Director, will emcee the evening.

The concert represents the latest performance from the New York City Opera at the Wollman Rink this summer. Recently the company presented a concert of Opera’s Greatest Moments with soloists Marsha Thompson, Elissa Pfaender, WooYoung Yoon, and Gustavo Feuline, The company also performed at the Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice and at Bryant Park.
