New Camerata Opera to Present ‘L’Amant Anonyme’ in Spring 2026

By David Salazar

New Camerata Opera will present “L’amant anonyme” this Spring.

The only surviving opera by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, will be conducted by Kelly Lam and directed by Brandon Shaw McKnight in a staging that reimagines the opera within a 1960s television studio inspired by The Bell Telephone Hour.

“L’amant anonyme” had its world premiere on March 18, 1780. The opera was ignored for most of the 19th and 20th century before finding a resurgence in recent years with new critical editions of the opera cropping up.
