
Miller Theatre at Columbia University Announces 2026-27 Season

Here are the vocal performances on offer.
Stile Antico returns with “Polyphonic Postcards,” a program of Renaissance polyphony alongside a world premiere by Christopher Cerrone, commissioned by Miller Theatre.
Performance Date: Oct. 15, 2026, Church of St. Mary the Virgin, New York
Then comes the concert premiere of Suzanne Farrin’s new opera “Macabéa,” a 75-minute work based on Clarice Lispector’s final novel, “The Hour of the Star.” The Talea Ensemble performs, conducted by Eduardo Leandro, with soprano Charlotte Mundy and baritone Christopher Herbert. The presentation offers an exclusive preview ahead of the opera’s full premiere in Brazil in 2028.

The Gesualdo Six, directed by Owain Park, presents “Fading,” a program inspired by the ancient service of Compline, pairing Renaissance polyphony by Thomas Tallis, Carlo Gesualdo, and John Sheppard with contemporary works by Sarah Rimkus, Joanna Marsh, and Gerda Blok-Wilson.
Performance Date: Nov. 12, 2026, Church of St. Mary the Virgin, New York
The Tallis Scholars, directed by Peter Phillips, return for their annual holiday concert with “Hail Mary,” a program celebrating music in praise of the Virgin Mary and featuring a world premiere by Matthew Martin, co-commissioned by Miller Theatre.

The Quince Ensemble makes its Miller series debut with “Cantus ad Fontem: The Sound of Water,” performing medieval and Renaissance works centered on texts about water, including a world premiere excerpt from Clay Mettens’ “Flowers of the Sky.” Guest vocalist Tracy Cowart joins the ensemble.

Cappella Pratensis and Piffaro, The Renaissance Band, unite for “A Mass for Manila,” performing Francisco Guerrero’s Missa Sancta et immaculata. Tim Braithwaite directs Cappella Pratensis, with Priscilla Herreid directing Piffaro.
