Metropolitan Opera Guild Announces ‘Opera Explorers’ Program

By David Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera Guild has announced the return of the company’s “Opera Explorers” program.

The program, which aims to allow families and younger children to explore opera through arts and crafts, songs, music making, and movement, will take place on Saturdays throughout April and May 2023. The program opens on April 15, 2023, at the Guild’s Opera Learning Center in the Samuel B. and David Rose Building.

“Music and opera open worlds for children to explore, question, and experience. I’m so excited to lead this group of explorers through new adventures and create new moments, characters, and music together while having fun!” said Instructor and Guild Teaching Artist Amanda Ekery in an official press statement.

“Opera Explorers” will be capped at 40 participants, each of whom will be asked to attend all four sessions.

“Continuing the Guild’s long-standing commitment to active arts learning, we are pleased to bring back Opera Explorers. This program provides children and adults the chance to explore opera and develop their own creative voice,” added Stuart Holt, Director of Learning and Engagement of the Metropolitan Opera Guild.
