Matthew Polenzani has canceled his performance at the Richard Tucker Gala.

The singer took to social media and said, “Hello dear friends, I’m sorry to say I am sick…Sadly it means I have to cancel the Tucker Gala tomorrow. I hope to be well enough to sing next week.” Polenzani also canceled the Oct. 28 performance of “La Bohème.”

The tenor was set to join a cast of singers that included Ben Bliss, Stephen Costello, Michael Fabiano, Susan Graham, Quinn Kelsey, Federica Lombardi, Angela Meade, Ailyn Pérez, Christian Van Horn, Sean Michael Plumb, Liv Redpath, and the 2022 winner Angel Blue.

The tenor is set to return to the stage on Nov. 1, 2023.
