The Metropolitan Opera has announces change for “La Bohème” on Oct. 28, 2023.

The company said “for today’s performance of Puccini’s ‘La Bohème,’ the role of Rodolfo will be sung by Stephen Costello replacing Matthew Polenzani.

Costello has performed the role on numerous occasions at the Met, Bayerische Staatsoper, New National Theatre, and Deutsche Oper Berlin, among others. This season he is able to sing in Rovigo, Padova, and Zurich.

The tenor is set to join a cast that includes Federica Lombardi, Olga Kulchynska, Adam Plachetka, Sean Michael Plumb and Christian Van Horn.

Polenzani is set to return for the Nov. 1, 2023 performance.
