Marlis Petersen & Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke Named Kammersänger at Bayerische Staatsoper

Marlis Petersen and Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke have been named Kammersänger of the Bayerische Staatsoper.

The two singers received the awards following a performance of “Salome” on July 28. During the ceremony Nikolaus Bachler and Kirill Petrenko also received honorary awards from the Bayerische Staatsoper.

Throughout the past years, Petersen has built her career at the Munich theater performing in productions of “Die Tote Stadt,” “Der Rosenkavalier,” “Die Fledermaus,” “Salome,” and “Lulu.” Next season she returns for performances of “Der Rosenkavalier.”

Meanwhile, Ablinger-Sperrhacke has been seen in “Das Rheingold,” “Salome,” “Wozzeck,” “Die Zauberflöte,” “The Bartered Bride,” and “Hansel and Gretel.” Next season he will return for “The Devils of Loudun.”

Bachler is leaving his post as General Director at the Bayerische Staatsoper this season and the company is dedicating a gala to him this week.
