On Sept. 19, the Board and Staff of Bronx Opera will present an afternoon of appreciation dedicated to Michael Spierman, Bronx Opera’s co-founder and Artistic Director Emeritus.

The Bronx native and longtime presenter and champion of the classical music repertory, Spierman will be honored for his years of presenting free classical music concerts in The Bronx. The celebration will be an afternoon of images, tributes, testimonials, song and music featuring friends that Maestro Spierman has made along the way, in and out of music.

The event will be held at Lovinger Theater/Lehman  College.

Spierman co-founded the Bronx Opera in 1967 and has also been Music Director of  The Orchestra of The Bronx for over half a century and has guest conducted from Mexico and Brasil to England and Bulgaria. He served on the Music Faculty of Hunter College for 38 years and continues to be a proud lifelong resident of The Bronx.
