The Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theatre of Vilnius is set to revive Verdi’s “Rigoletto.”

The production is set to be performed on April 10, 12, and 15 and will star Romanian soprano Diana Alexe in the role of Gilda, Simone Piazzola in the title role, and Merunas Vitulskis as the Duke of Mantua.

The opera will be performed in Franco Zeffirelli’s production which will be conducted by Martynas Staskus and Ricardas Sumila alternating at the podium.

In a statement Alexe said, “I am really happy to make my debut in Vilnius singing Gilda, one of my favourite roles, and with wonderful colleagues. I am excited also to sing in the staging by Franco Zeffirelli, which was his last production before his passing in 2019.”
