Lawrence Brownlee, Michael Spyres, Ramón Vargas, Karine Deshayes, Sophie Koch Headline Théâtre Capitole de Toulouse’s 2021-22 Season

The Théâtre Capitole de Toulouse has announced its 2021-22 season.

It all kicks off with a production of “La Gioconda” starring Béatrice Uria-Monzon, René Morloc, Marco Spotti, Varduhi Abrahayman, Ramón Vargas, and Pierrre-Yves Pruvot.

Roberto Rizzi-Brignoli conducts a production by Olivier Py.

Performance Dates: Sept. 24-Oct. 3, 2021

Michel Fau will direct “Wozzeck” which stars Stéphane Degout, Sophie Koch, Nikolai Schukoff, Thomas Bettinger, and Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke. Leo Hussain conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 19-25, 2021 

Die Zauberflöte” will be directed by Pierre Rigal and conducted by Michele Gamba. Bror Magnus Tødenes and Valentin Thill will share Tamino while Anaïs Constans and Marie Perbost will both sing the role of Pamina. Other cast members include Serenad Uyar, Marlène Assayag, Nika Guliashvili, and Christian Maremba, among many others.

Performance Dates: Dec. 19 – 30, 2021

Marie-Nicole Lemieux and Eva Zaïck will alternate the title role of “Carmen” which will be directed by Jean-Louis Grinda and Giuliano Carella. Jean-François Borras and Amadi Lagha will star as Don José.

Performance Dates: Jan. 21-30, 2022 

Corinne and Gilles Benizio (Shirley and Dino) will direct “Platée.” Hervé Niquet conducts a cast that includes Mathias Vidal, Marie Perbost, Pierre Derchet, and Jean-Christophe Lanièce, among others.

Performance Dates: March 19-24, 2022 

Jenufa” will star Angela Denoke, Marie-Adeline Henry, Marius Brenciu, Amadi Lagha, and Cheryl Studer, among others. Florian Krumpöck conducts a production by Nicolas Joel.

Performance Dates: April 20 – 24, 2022

Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” will star Florian Sempey, Vincenzo Taormina, Eva Zaïck, Adèle Charvet,Kévin Amiel, Petr Nekoranec, Paolo Bordogna, Yuri Kissin, Roberto Scandiuzzi, and Julien Véronèse. Attilio Cremonesi conducts a production by Josef Ernst Köpplinger.

Performance Dates: May 20-29, 2022

Recitals  

Sophie Koch and Bertrand Chamayou will perform a recital with music by Berg, Strauss, Stravinsky, and Debussy.

Performance Date: Oct. 21, 2021

José Cura, Katalin Csillagh, and Barbora Kubiková will perform Argentine melodies and songs.

Performance Date: Feb. 17, 2022

Michael Spyres will team up with Mathieu Pordoy for a performance of opera arias.

Performance Date: March 3, 2022

Levy Sekgapane and Lawrence Brownlee will team up with pianist Giulio Zappa for a recital of opera arias and duets.

Performance Date: April 7, 2022

Karine Deshayes and Philippe Cassard will perform French melodies and songs by Fauré, Ravel, and Duparc, among others.

Performance Date: April 21, 2022

Concerts

Mezzo-soprano Monica Bacelli will join forces with Les Sacqueboutiers for a concert of music by Monteverdi and Berio.

Performance Date: Nov. 15, 2021 

Catherine Hunold, Quatuor Voce, and Vaduhi Yeritsyan will perform music by Mantovani and Schumann.

Performance Date: Nov. 24, 2021 

Dominique Visse will also perform alongside Les Sacqueboutiers in a concert entitled “La Lyre Amoureuse.”

Performance Date: Nov. 24, 2021

The Midis du Capitole series will feature a number of recitals, starring with one featuring Anaïk Morel and David Violi.

Performance Date: Nov. 4, 2021

Next up is a recital starring Victor Sicard and Anna Cardona.

Performance Date: Jan. 13, 2022

Marie Perbost is next up in that lineup.

Performance Date: March 8, 2022

Edwin Fardini closes out the recital series.
