The Los Angeles Opera will stream Du Yun and Royce Vavrek’s “Angel’s Bone” as part of its LAO at Home program.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning opera will be presented in collaboration with Beth Morrison Projects and The Broad Stage starting on Friday, May 1, 2020.

The performance hails from the Beijing Music Festival in 2019 and can be viewed via the LA Opera’s Facebook page throughout the ensuing week following its launch.

“In these challenging times, LA Opera is finding creative new ways to connect audiences with opera and to honor the many artists affected by the cancellation of performances,” said Christopher Koelsch, the company’s Sebastian Paul and Marybelle Musco President and CEO, in a press release. “I am incredibly grateful to all of the performers and creative team members, as well as the indomitable Beth Morrison, who have made it possible for audiences to experience ‘Angel’s Bone’ on what was to have been the production’s opening night in Los Angeles.”

The opera was originally set to appear as part of LA Opera’s Off Grand programming this spring 2020, but was canceled due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the social distancing requirements put in place.
