Kristen Turner Named Kennedy Center’s Director of Public Relations for Classical Music

The Kennedy Center’s public relations office has announced Kristen Turner in the role of Director of Public Relations for Classical Music.

The position primarily serves the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) and Washington National Opera (WNO), working closely with both the Executive Director of the NSO Jean Davidson, and the General Director of WNO Tim O’Leary as well as the WNO Artistic Director Francesca Zambello and NSO Music Director Gianandrea Noseda.

Turner will also work with the Fortas Chamber Music series, Renée Fleming VOICES, the Center’s music education programs, and Sound Health. Additionally, she will play a key role in reaching a diverse range of audiences for the NSO’s popular programming.

Turner previously held the position of Director of Communications, Content, and Digital Strategies at the San Diego Symphony and assisted with the launch of the organization’s new outdoor venue, The Rady Shell. She holds a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Northern Arizona University, a master’s degree in vocal performance from The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a master’s degree in arts leadership from the University of Houston.
