Kennedy Center Closes Due to Winter Storm

By Francisco Salazar

The Kennedy Center has announced it’s closed on Jan. 6 due to inclement weather.

As a result, Dance for Parkinson’s Disease has been canceled.

The closure was announced following the National Weather Service’s winter storm warning for the entire state of Maryland due to heavy snow. According to the weather service, it is snowing 1 to 3 inches of snow per hour which can make travel nearly impossible or at least very dangerous.

The center reopens on Jan. 8 for “Zar Electrik” followed by the Washington National Opera’s “The Cartography Project: Black Futures.”

The Washington National Opera later presents “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs,” “American Rhapsody,” and “Porgy and Bess.” The National Symphony Orchestra is set to present “Vanessa” with Nicole Heaston.
