
Kim Seok-jun Wins Korean National Opera’s 2025 National Opera Vocal Competition
By David SalazarThe Korean National Opera has announced the winners of its 24th National Opera Vocal Competition.
Taking home the Grand Prize was bass Kim Seok-jun. He performed such arias as “Quand la flamme de l’amour” from “La jolie fille de Perth” and “Infelice! e tuo credevi” from “Ernani.”
Tenor Lee Jae-myung was the recipient of the Gold Prize, while soprano Park Seong-eun was given the Silver Prize. Soprano Jin Ju-eun won the bronze medal.
“This competition has become a platform for many singers to learn and gain experience. We will do our best to ensure that it develops into a platform where singers not only in Korea but also around the world can challenge themselves,” said Choi Sang-ho, director of the Korea National Opera, per an official press release.
Audiences will be able to live stream the final performance via the company’s official streaming platform, “ChnomaiOpera.”
