The board of the Kennedy Center has voted to officially shut down the performing arts institution.

The vote came shortly after a federal judge in Washington rejected the board’s effort to add Trump’s name to the building and after Trump said on social media that renovations wouldn’t happen unless his name was added to the building. It also happened after the president appealed to the supreme court to get his name on the building.

According to the board, the reason the institution was closed down was due to the building’s “dire” financial and structural shape.

The board also cited a partial ceiling collapse in the center’s Grand Foyer this month as evidence that the center needed to be immediately closed for repairs.

The video of the ceiling collapse was later shared by many of Trump’s loyalists including Howard Lutnick, Roma Daravi, and Trump himself.

Following the announcement of the closure, the Kennedy Center’s chief financial officer, the CFO of the Kennedy Center, Donna Kauranen, resigned from her position after serving in the role for about 18 months.
