
Kelly Guerra, Derek Chester, Aaron Sheehan, Hadleigh Adams Headline West Edge Opera’s 2025 Summer Festival
By David SalazarWest Edge Opera has announced its 2025 summer festival.
First on the slate is Nicolás Lell Benavides and Marella Koch’s “Dolores,” which was developed through the company’s Aperture Program. It explores the journey of activist Dolores Huerta and her work with the United Farm Workers during the Delano Grape Strike, among other major events. The opera stars Kelly Guerra, Phillip Lopez, and Alex Boyer. Mary Chun conducts and Octavio Cardenas directs.
Performance Dates: August 2 – 16, 2025
Charpentier and Bretonneau’s “David & Jonathan” will be conducted by Adam Pearl and directed by Mark Streshinsky. Derek Chester and Aaron Sheehan headline as the title characters, while Matthew Worth stars as Saul.
Performance Dates: August 3-16, 2025
Rounding out the slate is Berg’s “Wozzeck” starring Hadleigh Adams and Emma McNairy. Jonathan Khuner conducts while Elkhanah Pulitzer directs.
