Joyce DiDonato continues the Metropolitan Opera’s “Met Stars Live in Concert” series on Sept. 12, 2020.

The event, which will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET, will feature the superstar live from the Jahrhunderthalle Bochum in Germany. DiDonato will perform a program entitled “I Dream a World.”

The title of the program is taken from a new work that will receive its world premiere during this concert, with music by Kenyatta Hughes and text from the Langston
Hughes poem of the same name. The three-part program will feature Baroque works by Handel and Monteverdi as well as pieces by Berlioz and Mahler.

DiDonato will also perform well-known songs such as “La vie en rose” and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” DiDonato will be accompanied by Carrie-Ann Matheson on piano and the chamber ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro.

The concert space will be curated for this event by Belgian interior designer and antiques and art dealer Axel Vervoordt, with sculpture by Mexican contemporary artist Bosco Sodi, setting the stage for this multimedia experience.

The recital will be streamed live via the Met website and will then be available on-demand for 12 days.

DiDonato’s performance will be followed in this series by concerts featuring Anna Netrebko, Joseph Calleja, Diana Damrau, Pretty Yende, and Javier Camarena, among many others. Netrebko will be live from Slovenia, on Oct. 10, while Damrau and Calleja will appear from Malta on Oct. 24. Meanwhile, Yende and Camarena will perform from Zurich on Nov. 7.
