Jonas Kaufmann Cancels Two Performances Of ‘Tosca’

By Francisco Salazar

Jonas Kaufmann has withdrawn from two more performances of “Tosca” at the Opéra de Paris.

The Paris Opera revealed that due to medical reasons, the tenor will not sing the May 25 and 29 performances.

The company stated, “Jonas Kaufmann has not yet been given the clearance from his medical team to resume his professional activities. Unfortunately, he must, therefore, withdraw from the performances of Tosca on May 25 and May 29 but hopes to return to the stage for the performances in June.”

As a result, the role of Cavaradossi will be performed by Marcelo Puente.

The news comes after Kaufmann canceled performances earlier this month due to a violent coughing attack.

The tenor is still scheduled to perform ‘Tosca” on June 1 and 5 alongside Sonya Yoncheva and Luca Salsi.
