Countertenor John Holiday Wins Knockout Round of ‘The Voice’

By Logan Martell

On Monday evening, countertenor John Holiday advanced from the Knockout Round on NBC’s “The Voice.”

The round saw him face off against teammate Cami Clune, with Holiday singing “All By Myself” by Eric Carmen and Clune singing “I Put a Spell On You” by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.

Holiday earned a tremendous reception from the audience, as well as the coaches, with Kelly Clarkson remarking “What just happened?”

Gwen Stefani said: “John, it makes me feel so blessed to be on this show to watch someone like you. The way that you deliver the story of the song, and the Olympics that are coming out of your mouth – it’s crazy!”

The decision of the Knockout Round was made by John Legend, who sent Holiday on to next week’s Live Play-Offs.
