Isabel Leonard & Aigul Akhmetshina Lead Metropolitan Opera’s ‘Il Barbiere di Siviglia’

The Metropolitan Opera is set to revive Bartlett Sher’s production of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” for 12 performances, beginning on April 15, 2025.

The opera will first star Isabel Leonard as Rosina, Lawrence Brownlee as Count Almaviva, and Davide Luciano as Figaro. The cast is rounded out by Nicola Alaimo and Alexander Vinogradov.

The second cast includes Aigul Akhmetshina as Rosina and Jack Swanson in his Met debut as Count Almaviva. They will be joined by Andrey Zhilikhovsky and Peter Kálmán.

The casts are led by Maestro Giacomo Sagripanti in his company debut.

The performance of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” on May 31, 2025 will be transmitted live to movie theaters around the globe as part of The Met: Live in HD series. The April 15 and May 31 performances of Il Barbiere di Siviglia will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio on the SiriusXM app.
