Arte.TV to Stream ‘Maria Stuarda’ with Lisette Oropesa & Aigul Akhmetshina

The production, which was filmed on Dec. 20, 2024, will be streamed on May 5, 2025.
The production by Sir David McVicar stars Lisette Oropesa in the title role alongside Aigul Akhmetshina as Elisabetta.
The cast also includes Ismael Jordi as the Earl of Leicester, Roberto Tagliavini as Giorgio Talbot, Andrzej Filonczyk as Lord Guglielmo Cecil, and Elissa Pfaender as Anna Kennedy. Jose Miguel Pérez-Sierra conducts.
OperaWire praised Oropesa for her work in the piece stating, “Soprano Lisette Oropesa performed the titular role, showcasing her lyric coloratura qualities perfectly. Her sound is round and dark, and although she keeps a strong high register (up to high Ds in this role), her voice tends to be more lyrical suits the middle- centric vocal writing of the part.”
