Obituary: Tenor William Reeder Dies

Tenor William Reeder has died.

Reeder’s career took him to the Zurich Opera, where for eight years was a leading operatic tenor. He went on to perform more than 40 leading tenor roles in 15 major opera houses throughout Europe.

Reeder was the dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts and vice president and general manager of the Washington Performing Arts Society.

He helped establish the Sallie Mae Trust for Education at Sallie Mae and executive director of the Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C. He was also the president of the Saint Louis Conservatory of Music and executive director of Opera Music Theatre International. He also worked as a faculty member of Indiana University and Illinois State University.
