The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a cast change for its performance of “Turandot” on December 15, 2023.

The company revealed that Alejandro Roy would take on the role of Calaf, substituting for Martin Muehle who is ill.

Roy joins a cast that includes Catherine Foster in the title role and Maria Agresta as Liù.

This is the latest in a slew of cast changes that have followed the production this season. For the Dec. 11 performance, the organization announced that Catherin Foster was taking over for Elena Pankratova in the title role. Prior to that Marta Mathéu took over for Adriana González as Liù, who had previously stepped in for Nadine Sierra when she announced that muscle problems would impede her participation in the production (Vannina Antoni was also announced as part of that change).

The production opened on November 26 and runs through December 16.
