The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a cast change for its Dec. 11, 2023 performance of “Turandot.”

The company said “In today’s performance of ‘Turandot‘ the titular role will be played by soprano Catherine Foster. From the Liceu, we thank the effort of soprano Elena Pankratova, who this weekend played the role of Turandot in two consecutive functions.”

Foster has performed the role of Turandot at the Royal Opera House and is expected to perform the title role this season at the Staatsoper Hamburg, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opera de Dijon, and at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Greece with the Greek National Orchestra.

Foster will join a cast that includes Marko Mimica, Michael Fabiano, and Vannina Santoni. Alondra de la Parra conducts the production by Nuria Espert.
