The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a cast change for its Dec. 9 performance of “Turandot.”

The company said, “In the performance of ‘Turandot’ today, Saturday 9 December, the role of Liù is sung by the soprano Marta Mathéu, replacing Adriana González, who is ill.”

Mathéu will join a cast that includes Elena Pankratova, Siegfried Jerusalem, Michael Fabiano, Marko Mimica, Manel Esteve, Moisés Marín, and Antoni Lliteres.

Alondra de la Parra conducts the production by Nuria Espert.

“Turandot” is set to run through Dec. 16, with Maria Agresta and Vannina Santoni singing the final performances as Liù. González next performs at the Liceu in a production of “Carmen.”
