The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of “Don Giovanni.”

The company noted that bass Alex Rosen will replace Leonard Bernad in the role of Il Commendatore, who has had to cancel due to personal reasons.

Rosen will also perform the role of Masetto in the production. He made his international debut with Les Arts Florissants, under the direction of William Christie and has since performed with the Cincinnati Opera, Opera Philadelphia, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and numerous U.S. and European organizations.

The bass joins a cast that includes Alexandre Duhamel, Iulia Maria Dan, Julien Henric, Arianna Venditelli, Robert Gleadow, Megan Marino, and Angela Brower.

“Don Giovanni” on April 8 and runs through the 24, 2022.
