Fly On The Wall Launches Online Exhibition of ‘The Collection (2015-25)’
By Afton MarkayFly On The Wall has launched “The Collection (2015-25),” a 10-year documentary project by musician and filmmaker Stewart French.
“The Collection” offers an unfiltered glimpse behind the scenes with some of the world’s finest classical musicians. This online exhibition features 56 curated films drawn from more than 300 behind-the-scenes shoots. It features iconic locations such as Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Henry Wood Hall, and Ehrbar Saal. Accompanying each film is a written narrative offering behind-the-scenes insight and context, untold stories from deep within the creative process.
The work showcases over 40 artists including pianists, early music ensembles, string players, classical guitar quartets, and percussion collectives. Among vocalists are sopranos Ilona Domnich, Angela Theis, and Sofia Fomina, The King’s Singers, The Choir of Clare College Cambridge, and La Nuova Musica.
French stated in a press release, “As a performer myself, I’ve always been drawn to the raw, unfiltered magic that happens behind closed doors — moments of focus, anticipation, creative flow. With ‘The Collection,’ I wanted to capture those flashes of vitality that sit at the very heart of music-making.”
Fly On The Wall is a film-studio dedicated to the power of classical music. Its mission is “to promote the appreciation of music by exploring new ways to connect with global digital audiences online. To inspire players, listeners and innovators everywhere.”
