
Florida Grand Opera Announces 2025–26 Studio & CANTO Artists Ahead of ‘SongFest’ Launch
By David SalazarFlorida Grand Opera has announced the artists selected for its 2025–26 Studio and CANTO Programs, who will appear in the company’s “SongFest” concerts on Nov. 21 in Miami and Nov. 23 in Fort Lauderdale.
The FGO Studio roster will feature sopranos Catherin Meza and Ingrid Kuribayashi; tenors Levi Adkins and James Mancuso; baritones Alex Granito and Joseph O’Shea; and bass-baritone William Dopp.
Studio Artists will spend up to two years in South Florida, receiving training from FGO staff under Dr. Jared Peroune, Samuel M. Townsend Studio Artist Program Manager & Chorus Master, with additional coaching from guest faculty including Arturo Chacón-Cruz and Louis Otey.
Meanwhile, the 2025–26 CANTO cohort includes sopranos Sylvia Etherington, Julia Izquierdo, Haojin Mo, and Emily Auten Cross; mezzo-soprano Jade Espina; and tenors Zhedong Ren and Chris Melton.
The CANTO program, which enters its second year, partners with regional training institutions, including the University of Miami Frost School of Music and FIU’s Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts, to provide young artists with performance opportunities and professional development.
The two programs will open the company’s SongFest series with “A Night at the Cabaret,” featuring French, German, and English cabaret repertoire, as well as works by FGO Assistant Conductor Felix Jarrar.
Admission to both events is free.
