Filarmónica de Bogotá Breaks Record Uniting 16,000 Musicians for a Concert

On August 28, the Filarmónica de Bogotá in the capital city of Colombia united 16,000 músicians for a concert.

The concert broke the record for most musicians in a show, saw musicians between four and 70 years of age unite to send a message of peace and reconciliation, and interpreted Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. The concert also performances of “Canción con todos” by Mercedes Sosa and a song by Calle 13.

The players were grouped by colors and were directed by Rubián Zuluaga. Mayor Claudia López was there to receive the musicians and said, “Welcome to the biggest concert in the world from Bogota.”

Colombia’s concert for peace breaks Venezuela’s record which saw 12,000 performers on the same stage in 2012 paying homage to José Antonio Abreu.
