Staatsoper unter der Linden has announced that soprano Evelin Novak will perform the role of Elettra in all the performances of the opera in the 2020-21 season.

Novak will replace soprano Olga Peretyatko.

Evelin Novak will join that cast that includes Lea Desandre in the role of Idamante, Victoria Randem as Ilia, Linard Vrielink as Arbace, and Andrew Staples in the title role. That cast will be rounded out by Florian Hoffmann and Grigory Shkarupa. Louis Langrée will conduct the production by David McVicar.

Novak has recently performed the role of Susanna in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Staatsoper Hamburg; the role of Mimì in Puccini’s “La bohème” at the Oper Köln; the role of Rosalinde in Johan Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” at the Brucknerfest Linz; the role of Pamina in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” at the Staatsoper unter der Linden and the Semperoper Dresden; and the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at the Staatsoper unter der Linden, among others.

The soprano is slated to make her big debut in the role of Agathe in Weber’s “Der Freischütz” at the Staatsoper Berlin in May 2021.
