Demetrius Robinson Joins Prairie View A&M University as New Music & Choral Director

Dr. Demetrius Robinson has been selected as Prairie View A&M University’s new Music and Choral Director.

Dr. Robinson is a music educator, conductor, and composer. Previously he served as the Assistant Professor of Music, Choral Director, and Music Education Coordinator at Prairie View A&M University.

In 2022, Dr. Robinson was inducted into the Future Music Faculty Fellowship from the Cleveland Institute of Music. His professional memberships include the National Association for Music Education, the American Eurhythmics Society, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, Music Publishers Association of the United States, the Association of Independent Music Publishers, the Society of Composers Inc, Phi Mu Alpha Music Sinfonia, and the American Choral Directors Association.

He has performed with the University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the Meridian Symphony, and the Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. In 2018 launched Robinson Music Enterprise LLC and Canorous Music Publishing.

Dr. Mark Phillips, Director of the Department of Music, said in a press release, “Our choirs have enjoyed a long legacy of excellence, and Dr. Robinson’s expertise in choral pedagogy, conducting, and music education will position us to enjoy even greater successes in the future.”
