Concurs International De Cant Josep Palet Announces 2025 Jury
By David SalazarThe Concurs International De Cant Josep Palet has announced its Jury for its upcoming edition.
In the preliminary phase of the competition, the jury will comprised of Valentin Egel, General Music Director of the National Theatre of Croatia in Rijeka and the Rijeka Symphony Orchestra; Renzo de Marco, assistant to the artistic director of the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia; Silvia Tro Santafé, mezzo-soprano; and Carmen Valero, jury secretary. Then for the semifinal and final phases, singers will perform for Julien Benhamou, artistic director of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and casting consultant for the Metropolitan Opera House in New York; Damià Carbonell, artistic director of the Nationale Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam; Albert Castells, casting coordinator of the Gran Teatre del Liceu; Mirna Lacambra, soprano; Erik Malmquist, casting director of Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich; Augusto Techera, artistic production director of the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville; and Jordi Maddaleno, jury secretary.
“This year, we are taking another step forward in the evolution of the competition, increasing the financial award for the first prize and having an internationally recognized jury. We are pleased to have the continuous support of the City Council and the collaboration of so many institutions, which allows this project, born in Martorell, to continue growing and bringing the talent of young singers to a global stage,” Aleix Palau, director of the Josep Palet Competition, said in an official press release.
The finals are set for March 29 & 30, 2025 in Martorell (Barcelona), with applications now open through Feb. 23, 2025. The winner takes home €5,000, with second place getting €2,000, and third getting €1,000. There will also be 10 special prizes.
