Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition Announces 2024 Winners
By Francisco SalazarThe Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal competition has announced the 2024 winners.
The Marcello Giordani prize of $5,000 was awarded to tenor Michael Butler while the Dmitri Hvorostovsky prize of $5,000 was given to baritone Darren Drone.
The Athena Music Foundation prize of $5,000 was taken by tenor Ben Reisinger while soprano Dalia Medovnikov won the Renata Scotto Prize of $5,000.
The Washington Opera Society Award of $1,000 saw soprano Page Michaels win while tenor Minghao Liu won the Dr. David di Chiera Award of $1,500.
The Voce di Meche award of $1,000 was awarded to soprano Kathryn Henry and contralto Rose Naggar-Tremblay won the Sheldon Lee Audience Prize.
The live finalist honors were Luna Seongeun Park, Daniel O’Hearn, Sunghoon Han, Raul Morales Velazco, Jonathan Patton, Eva Rae Martinez, and Thandolwethu Mamba.
The Virtual winners included Alissa Goretsky who won the first prize of $2,000 while the second prize of $ 1,500 was awarded to Tamuna Gochashvili. The third prize of $1,000 was awarded to Tatev Baroyan.
The Virtual Premiere Grant of $500 was given to three singers, Anna Erokhina, Anna Graf, and Jamal Al Titi.
The finalists included Fleuranne Brockway, Hojin Chung, Bronwyn Douglass, Emma Fekete, Kresley Figueroa, Dawson Franzino, Allen Michael Jones, Gemma Nha, Jennifer O’Loughlin, and Ryan Wolfe.
