Classical Pride 2024 Presents ‘Classical Drag’ With Nicky Spence

Classical Pride has announced its five-day festival for Pride 2024.

Tenor Nicky Spence and “RuPaul’s Drag Race’s” Monet X Change and Thorgy Thor, among other queens, kick off the celebration with “Classical Drag.” This crossover event features drag performances of arias from “Carmen,” “Turandot,” “Tosca,” and more.  Following this, the Fourth Choir, conducted by Nicholas Chalmers presents works by Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears, and the world premiere of a new work by Isobel Waller-Bridge.

LGBTQ+ students from the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance present “A Proud Future.” Closing the festival, Artistic Director Oliver Zeffman leads Pavel Kolesnikov, Pumeza Matshikiza, Russell Thomas, and the LGBTQ+ Community Choir with the London Symphony Orchestra in the world premiere of a new work by Jake Heggie and Taylor Mac.

Classical Pride 2024 takes place July 3 -7 throughout Soho’s Outernet.
