
Chicago Fringe Opera Unveils 2025-26 Season
By David SalazarChicago Fringe Opera has unveiled its 2025-26 season.
First up is the Chicago Fringe Opera x The Ear Taxi Festival at The Kehrein Center for the Performing Arts. The event will feature over 500 arts and over 5o hours of programming. Chicago Fringe Opera will showcase excerpts from three operas, including “Here Be Sirens,” “On My Mind,” and “No One’s Child.” Catherine O’Shaughnessy will conduct, while Katherine Coyl and Tor Campbell will split directing duties.
Performance Date: Oct. 17, 2025
That will be followed up by “The Rosina Project” at the Chicago Cultural Center Dance Studio. The work is a hip-hopera adaptation of Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” that features opera singers, street-dance artists, and a live DJ and Beatboxer.
Performance Date: Nov. 8 & 9, 2025
Then comes the fully-staged production of Kate Soper’s “There Be Sirens.” The showcase will take place at The Edge Theater Off Broadway.
Performance Date: May 2 – 9, 2026
“There will be an ‘Operapalooza II” as part of Lollapalooza. Chicago Fringe Opera will present four opera-fusion projects.
Performance Date: May 31, 2026
“Sounds of Pride” returns for its fifth year to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
Performance Date: June 27, 2026
The company will also present “OP*ERRATIC,” an improv opera.
