The Salzburg Festival has announced that famed Italian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli will remain the Artistic Director of the Salzburg Whitsun Festival through 2026.

“It fills me with great joy to continue our fruitful artistic collaboration with Cecilia Bartoli for the entire duration of my own contract,” said the Artistic Director of the Salzburg Festival Markus Hinterhäuser.

“Together with the wonderful team of the Salzburg Festival, we have been able to present outstanding artistic highlights during the past years, and have found an enthusiastic audience for our endeavours,” added Bartoli. “I am delighted to extend our inspiring collaboration with Markus Hinterhäuser for another five years.”

Salzburg Whitsun Festival 2020 Edition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021 edition will feature Italian capital Rome as its main theme.
