Opera Australia has announced the cast of “The Trumpet of the Swan,” a family friendly, live storytelling concert that will premiere at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre from Nov. 20 to 22, 2026.

Actor Bert Labonté will portray Sam the Storyteller and will guide audiences through this enchanting musical journey, adapted from E. B. White’s children’s classic for the stage by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman, and with music by Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown.

Joining Labonté onstage, playing Father Swan will be actor and performer Ben Mingay and vocalist Marney McQueen as Mother Swan. Completing the cast will be Grant Piro,  Scout Hook and Arjun Tiwari.

The production will be directed by Tyran Parke, who is currently Head of Musical Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts and will be conducted by Chad Kelly.
