Cecilia Bartoli has unveiled details for the 2021 Salzburg Whitsun Festival.

The 2021 edition will be themed after Rome, the city of Bartoli’s birth, and will feature a new production of Georg Friedrich Handel’s oratorio “Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno” by  Robert Carsen. Bartoli will star in the Handel masterpiece with Gianluca Capuano conducting Les Musiciens de Prince-Monaco.

The festival will also include Mozart’s “La clemenza di Tito” conducted by Capuano and Puccini’s “Tosca” with Anja Harteros, Jonas Kaufmann and Bryn Terfel under the direction of Zubin Mehta. Both works will be performed in concert form.

John Eliot Gardiner and Philippe Jarrousky will also perform oratorios throughout the four-day festival.

The Salzburg Whitsun Festival is set to take place on May 21 through 24, 2021.
