CD/DVD Releases -Week of May 15: Redisover Old Classics By Plácido Domingo And Jennifer Larmore

Audiences expecting new CDs by some of today’s greatest stars will be disappointed to see there are no new selections. However, there will be new products to rediscover classic recordings and legendary artists. Check it out!

Rosamunda d’Inghilterra

Did you miss the DVD of Donizetti’s rarely performed work? Well, this week audiences will get a CD version of the same performance starring the beloved and rising star Jessica Pratt in one of her most celebrated roles to date. The CD also stars Eva Mei and Dario Schmunck and if you prefer listening to opera instead of watching, Dynamic has given you that option.

La Cenerentola 

Warner Classics will re-release a Highlights album of Rossini’s comic gem “La Cenerentola.” The highlights will include Jennifer Larmore in the title role, a mezzo who used to be one of the foremost interpreters of Rossini’s music. The CD also includes Alessandro Corbelli and Carlo Rizzi conducting. A European release is scheduled this week with a US release coming soon.

Plácido Domingo and Carol Neblett 

Penatone will release a remastered version of Puccini’s “La Fanciula Del West” with Placido Domingo and Carol Neblett. The remastered CD comes from a performance at the Royal Opera House that also includes Sherill Milnes and Robert Lloyd and was conducted by Zubin Mehta. For those who love classic opera, this is one that should not be missed.
