The Staatsoper Berlin has announced a cast change for “Nabucco.”

The company said that Lidia Fridman will make her house debut, taking over the role of Abigaille in all performances, replacing Anastasia Bartoli, who was originally announced.

Fridman has performed the role of Abigaille at the Teatro Dante Alighieri. She is well known for her Bel Canto repertoire, including the roles of “Anna Bolena,” “Norma,” “Dalinda,” and “Lucrezia Borgia.” She has also performed such Verdi operas as “Aroldo,” “Macbeth,” and “Un Ballo in Maschera.”

She is set to join a cast that includes Igor Golovatenko, Andrés Moreno García, Elena Maximova, and Tareq Nazmi. Francesco Lanzillotta conducts the production by Emma Dante.

“Nabucco” is set to be performed on May 23, 27, 31, June 3 & 6, 2026.
