Carmen Giannattasio, Luciano Ganci & Roberta Mantegna Lead Teatro Municipale di Piacenza’s 2022 Season

The Teatro Municipale di Piacenza in Italy has announced its 2022 season which will feature five productions and special events.

The season opens with Verdi’s “Aroldo” starring Luciano Ganci in the title role, Vladimir Stoyanov, and Roberta Mantegna. Manlio Benzi conducts the production by Emilio Sala e Edoardo Sanchi. 

Performance Dates: Jan. 21 & 23, 2022

Donizetti’s “La Favorita” will get a new production by Andrea Cigni. The showcase will star Anna Maria Chiuri, Celso Albelo, Simone Piazzola, Simon Lim, Renata Campanella, and Andrea Galli. Matteo Beltrami conducts the production.

Performance Dates: Feb. 18 & 20, 2022

The third production of the season will be Cilea’s “Adriana Lecouvreur” with Aldo Sisillo conducting and Italo Nunziata directing. Maria Teresa Leva sings the title role with Luciano Ganci, Teresa Romano, and Claudio Sgura. The opera will be presented for the first time in Piacenza in 30 years.

Performance Dates: March 18 & 20, 2022

Vivaldi’s “Il Farnace” is set to be conducted by Federico Maria Sardelli and directed by Marco Bellussi. The cast will star Paola Gardina, Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli, Leonardo Cortellazzi, Chiara Brunello, Elena Biscuola, Silvia Alice Gianolla, and Alessio Tosi. 

Performance Dates: April 8 & 10, 2022

The Teatro will celebrate the 900th anniversary of the Cattedrale di Piacenza with Mozart’s “Requiem.” Paolo Olmi conducts the masterwork with soloists Sara Rossini, Cinzia Chiarini, Manuel Amati, and Antonio di Matteo.

Performance Date: April 12, 2022

The last production of the season will be Boito’s “Mefistofele” with Francesco Pasqualetti conducting. Enrico Stinchelli will direct the production with Simon Lim, Antonio Poli, Agostina Smimmero, and Carmen Giannattasio.

Performance Dates: Oct. 14 & 16, 2022
